DInA Webinar: Strengthening Nutrition for Growth Commitments for Food Fortification in Africa

Event Information
The March 2025 Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris is a pivotal moment for governments, businesses, donors, and civil society organizations to come together and commit to bold, transformative actions to address malnutrition in all its forms. The Summit aims to accelerate global efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by prioritizing nutrition through evidence-based interventions, sustainable financing, and cross-sector collaboration. It builds on commitments from N4G Tokyo and leverages global frameworks to catalyze long-term impact.
Large scale food fortification (LSFF), when well-informed by data and with government commitment and industry compliance, is a low-cost, highly effective food systems strategy to sustainably deliver micronutrients to those in need. Recent milestones, such as the adoption of the World Health Assembly (WHA) resolution on food fortification (WHA76.19), have increased global attention, commitments, and reporting on LSFF, thereby strengthening the enabling environment for national, regional, and global action.
Building on the momentum from N4G Paris, the Micronutrient Data Innovation Alliance (DInA)/Micronutrient Forum, together with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Food Fortification Initiative (FFI), Helen Keller Intl, Iodine Global Network, Nutrition International, TechnoServe, UNICEF, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and other partners are hosting an Africa regional webinar. By convening governments, NGOs, donors, private sector actors, and other key stakeholders, the webinar aims to:
- Engage and support key stakeholders in developing actionable, region-specific LSFF commitments, where investments and action are needed most.
- Translate the LSFF Commitment Guide into actionable steps for stakeholders.
- Align the nutrition community on SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound) commitments that can be made in support of LSFF at N4G and beyond.
- Foster collaboration and strengthen partnerships and investments that support effective LSFF initiatives.
