HMHB Coffee & Chai Chat on MMS Anemia Guidance

HMHB will host its second Coffee and Chai Chat of the year on 16 April 2025 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m ET. Experts Robert (Bob) Black from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Endang Achadi, HMHB Steering Committee member from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, will lead a discussion on the use of multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS) during anemia treatment in pregnancy, sharing insights from Indonesia’s experience.
In 2023, the Global MMS Technical Advisory Group (TAG) released the Interim Guidance for Concurrent Antenatal Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation and Anemia Treatment in Pregnant Women, aimed at national decision-makers, technical advisory groups, and program implementers. This guidance supports the use of antenatal MMS alongside anemia treatment and is particularly relevant for those considering or implementing UNIMMAP-MMS programs. Indonesia has firsthand experience in integrating MMS into anemia treatment for pregnant women and, in 2024, adopted MMS into its national policy.
This virtual event offers participants a chance to learn more about the guidance and its practical application in Indonesia, engage in live discussions, and submit questions in advance. This online discussion will also contribute insights that may help update the guidance as needed.
